REDCap Data Dictionary Auditor
Review, clean, and document your REDCap data dictionary before structural problems affect data collection or analysis.
The StatsWithR REDCap Data Dictionary Auditor is a browser-based quality-control application for researchers, data managers, statisticians, study coordinators, and REDCap project builders. Upload a REDCap data dictionary CSV to evaluate field structure, branching logic, coded response options, validation settings, matrix consistency, identifiers, formatting, and analysis readiness.
The application provides detailed recommendations, a searchable issue table, an integrated dictionary editor, and conservative auto-fix tools. Proposed repairs are previewed before they are applied, with types of changes clearly distinguished. Undo, redo, and a complete change log make it easy to review every modification.
You can export a corrected REDCap dictionary, audit-issues file, formatted report, and readable codebook containing variable names, question text, response choices, branching logic, validation details, field notes, section headers, matrix information, and other project metadata.
The auditor processes the dictionary locally in your browser and does not require participant-level data. It does not connect directly to your REDCap project, so you remain in control of every correction and decide whether to import the revised dictionary.
